Beam Rebar

Places the reinforcement of a run of beams: main bars, extra bars at the joints and in the span, stirrups and the splices of the main bars. It works on straight beams, sloped beams and beams that follow a circular arc.

Pick the beams

  1. Choose the beam type under Beam type: Beam on columns or Foundation beam (on footings).
  2. Click Add beams and select the beam segments of one run, then click Finish.

Beam segments with no column between them form one span. A column found between one beam and the next starts a new span. For a foundation beam the spans are measured between the footings the beams meet. The beams of a run must lie on one straight line or on one circle; the beams of one span must have the same section, but the section can change at a column.

Section tab

Define the main bars in rows: Top bars, Middle bars and Bottom bars. Turn a row on, set its number of bars and its bar type. Middle bars go on both side faces.

When the run has several spans, Section by span lets you give a span its own section. A span without one uses All spans. A bar goes on into the next span only if that span has the same bar in the same place; otherwise it ends in the column.

Longitudinal tab

The diagram shows the run with a + on the top and bottom of every joint and at the bottom center of every span. Click one, choose the bar type and the number of bars, and give the distances from the column faces. Click Apply. Click an existing extra bar to change it, or Remove to delete it.

Splices tab

Bars longer than the stock length are cut. Rs bars splice in the central third of the span, never within 2h of a column face. Ri bars splice with the lap centered at L/4 from a face. The two halves of the bars of each face are cut in different places. A lap that breaks a rule is made longer by the percentage you set. The lap table can be edited.

For a foundation beam the Rs bars are the ones at the bottom of the section and the Ri bars the ones at the top.

Output tab

Write the stirrup distribution of each span, a layer value for the stirrups and for the longitudinal bars, and the splice group of the main bars to the parameters you choose. On a straight run the bars of a row can be made as one rebar set.

Profiles

Use the profile box in the title bar to save, load and delete the settings of the window.

Click Execute to create the rebar.
