View Transfer

Copy view settings — Visibility/Graphics, view filters, crop settings, 3D view settings, grid 2D extents — from another view straight into the view you currently have open.

General Description

The destination is always the active view at the moment you open the tool — there's no destination picker. Pick a Source view from the list, choose which settings to transfer, and the tool copies them onto the view you were already in. A compatibility preview warns you before running if a setting can't apply to the current view type.

Requirements

Navigate to the view you want as the destination before opening View Transfer — the destination isn't selectable inside the dialog.
3D View Settings only transfer between two 3D views.
Grid 2D Extents only applies between plan, section, elevation or detail views, and only affects grids that are visible in both the source and destination views.

Usage Procedure

Switch to the view you want to receive the settings — this becomes the destination automatically.
Open View Transfer from the Model panel on the Frata ribbon tab. The dialog shows "Destination: ".
Pick a Source view from the list.
Under Settings to transfer, enable Visibility / Graphics and/or View Filters. For filters, press Configure filters to open Select Filters to Copy and check the specific filters (with Select All / Clear All available), or the Model Categories / Annotation Categories / Revit Links / CAD Imports groups.
Enable Crop Settings, 3D View Settings and/or Grid 2D Extents if relevant to your source/destination pair.
Check the Preview panel — it reports compatibility issues (e.g. the destination not supporting V/G overrides, or not both views being 3D) before you commit.
Press Execute. A confirmation reports that settings were transferred successfully.

Recommendations

If the Preview reports "Destination view has limited Visibility/Graphics support," expect a partial transfer rather than an error — review the result in the destination view afterward.
Use View Filters' Select All / Clear All plus the search box when a view has many filters, rather than checking them one by one.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why can't I pick the destination view in the dialog? The destination is always the view that was active in Revit when you opened View Transfer. Switch to that view first, then launch the tool.

I see "Destination view does not support Visibility/Graphics overrides." What does that mean? Some view types (like schedules or legends) don't support V/G overrides at all. Choose a compatible destination view type, or skip that setting for this transfer.

I see "Both source and destination must be 3D views." Why? 3D View Settings only make sense between two 3D views — if either side isn't a 3D view, that specific setting is skipped or blocked; other settings you selected can still transfer.

I see "Grid 2D extents only apply between plan, section, elevation or detail views." Why? Grid 2D Extents represents how a grid's bubble and 2D extent look in a specific view, which only exists for plan, section, elevation and detail-type views. 3D views, schedules, legends and sheets don't have that concept.

I see "No grids are visible in both the source and destination views." What does that mean? Grid 2D Extents only copies settings for grids that actually appear in both the source and destination views. If no grid is shared between the two, there's nothing to transfer for that setting — other settings you selected can still transfer.

Does View Transfer support transferring to multiple destination views at once? No — it always transfers into the single active view. Repeat the process (switch view, reopen View Transfer) for each additional destination.
