Divide Rebar

Splits a group of reinforcements into two independent groups at the bar position closest to a picked point — no need to alternate spacing, just a clean split.

General Description

Divide Rebar works on a single shape-driven reinforcement set. Click a point on the set and the tool finds the nearest bar position and splits the set there, producing two independent groups that together still cover the original bars.

Requirements

  • Works on shape-driven reinforcement sets only (Revit rebar created from a rebar shape, not free-form).
  • The picked point must land on a valid split position — the first or last bar position can't always be used as a split point (see FAQ).

Usage Procedure

  1. Open Divide Rebar from the Structure panel on the Frata ribbon tab.
  2. Follow the prompt: "Select a point on the group of reinforcements to divide, then press Finish."
  3. Click a point on the reinforcement set, close to the bar position where you want the split. The tool splits the set there automatically.

Recommendations

  • Undo (Ctrl+Z) reverts the split, since it runs in a single transaction.
  • If you need the two halves to interleave at double spacing instead of a plain split, use Alternate Rebar instead.

Frequently Asked Questions

I got the message "Only shape-driven groups of reinforcements can be divided." Why? The reinforcement you clicked is free-form, not shape-driven. Divide Rebar only works on sets created from a rebar shape.

I got the message "The selected position is not valid for dividing this group of reinforcements." Why? The point you picked landed on a bar position too close to either end of the set, where a split wouldn't leave two meaningful groups. Click closer to the middle of the set.

How precise does my click need to be? Not very — the tool finds the nearest bar position to your picked point, so you don't need to click exactly on a bar.
