WallStretch
Extend or shrink each side of one or more walls by a distance you type in, in meters.
General Description
WallStretch lets you independently adjust the Top, Bottom, Start, and End sides of selected walls without editing each wall's parameters by hand. Enter a signed distance for any combination of sides and apply it to every selected wall at once.
Key Features
- Adjust Top and Bottom by editing the wall's height/offset parameters, keeping the opposite side fixed.
- Adjust Start and End (the wall's location line) for straight walls.
- Batch-apply to multiple walls at once, with per-wall error reporting.
- Uses your current Revit selection automatically if you have walls already selected; otherwise it prompts you to pick them.
Requirements
- Start/End adjustment only works on walls whose path is a line or arc; other wall shapes reject that adjustment (see FAQ).
Usage Procedure
- Open Wall Stretch from the Structure panel on the Frata ribbon tab.
- Toggle Top, Bottom, Start, and/or End for the sides you want to adjust, and enter a distance in meters for each — a negative value shrinks that side instead of extending it.
- Press Apply. If you already had walls selected in Revit, those are used directly; otherwise you're prompted: "Select walls to stretch, then press Finish" — pick the walls and press Finish.
- Review the result summary: how many walls were updated, and any per-wall errors.
Recommendations
- Select your walls in Revit before opening the tool if you want to skip the interactive pick step.
- If you don't select any side toggle before pressing Apply, nothing runs — you'll be prompted to select at least one side first.
Frequently Asked Questions
I got the message "Select at least one side to stretch." Why? You pressed Apply without turning on any of the Top/Bottom/Start/End toggles. Enable at least one side and enter its distance before applying.
I got the message "Wall's path is not a line or arc." Why? Start/End stretching only works on walls with a straight or arc-based location line. Walls with other path types can still have Top/Bottom adjusted, just not Start/End.
I got the message "Resulting height would be zero or negative." or "...wall length would be zero or negative." What happened? The distance you entered would shrink that side past zero for at least one selected wall. Reduce the magnitude of the (negative) distance for that side.
Can I apply different distances to different walls in the same run? No — the same set of side toggles and distances is applied to every wall selected in that run. Run the tool again with a different selection for a different distance.
